Supporting Generations

Pakistan Society of Human Genetics is a diverse group of individuals that aims to support needy families that have developmental genetic disorders. Our current focus is on those genetic disorders that carry socio-economic impact such as genetic disorders like hereditary neuropathies, anophthalmia/microphthalmia, etc.

The current goals include;

1. Genetic screening and evidence-based counseling of the affected families. 

2. Financial support of the families on monthly bases

3. Awareness of society regarding genetic disorders and the importance of genetic screening.

Why Genetic Screening and Counseling?

Establishing genetic diagnosis and screening of carriers will enable us to perform evidence-based carrier screening which will result in controlling the further transmission of genetic disorders.

Why Financial Support? 

​

Most of the time families with genetic disorders are in remote areas of Pakistan and belong to the middle/low-income class. In addition, the affected members of the family are not able to support their families financially and are dependent on the rest of the family members. Therefore, financial support to such families may be helpful to live a sustainable life.

Why Awareness of the Society is Important? 

​

The concepts and role of genetics in genetic disorders are aliens to our population. Therefore, the awareness of society regarding the concepts and role of genetics is as important are genetic screening and counseling.
